I n the last 20 years, thanks to the development of ecological studies, we have realized that we really need a healthier planet. Plants, animals and people are related to each other and to their environment. Tharefore, the destruction and change of a single element affects the whole ecosystem.
Local and Global environmental problems affect people, animals and plants. Here are some examples:
Water pollution: Industrial waste is polluting rivers and oceans. As a result, animals die and people get contaminated.
Air pollution: Automobiles and factories pollute the air in most major cities, as a result, we have:
● the greenhouse effect: Some gases and chemical mix with water in the air. So, when it rains, the water is acid. Acid rain damages forests, killing trees. It also damages life in rivers and lakes, killing fish.
● human diseases: allergies and respiratory problems.
Deforestation: In the last 80 years, 40% of the world ́s rainforests have disappeared. The cutting down or burning of rainforests is desttroying whole systems of plants and animals. As a result, there is serious environmental degradation.
All of us should do our task to improve life on the planet because “ our environment is like a patchwork quilt. Each patch is dependent on those around it. If one part unravels, it affects the rest”.
